Magisk Modules?

We keep on hearing these words more and more often these days… “Magisk Module” ,”Magisk Mod”, “Magisk Mods”…

But what exactly are they? Well, that’s the million dollars question… To be honest, is not really important what they are from technical point of view…

Trying to answer that, it will take us down the rabbit hole, deep down into the world of the scripts, awk, sed, tee, into the world of the root and especially into the land of the “systemless” root“.

To be honest, most of reasonable people would not care about what exactly a magisk module is, it’s just the most hardcore users who care about the technical aspects of it.

Shortly put, in an one liner, is a way, a tool if you will, that allows you to modify your system.

This can be used either for good or for bad. (These days it seems to be used mainly for self harming decisions due to the people’s inability to read the documentation).

One of our Devs has illustrated the situation perfectly :

Imagine a Cake (in this case: ArrowOS) … That cake is amazing….

It has been baked to perfection, frosted in a lovely darker tone, including nice creamy chocolate, with a powder sugar design on top.

An arrow design of course…

You ordered it from a 7 star hotel, after endless hours of reading the reviews of how incredibly good and perfect that cake is… You have seen the pictures, you have heard the testimonials…

You just know is gonna be incredibly yummy… Everything you dreamed about and that makes you happy and excited …

You just can’t wait to go home and try it…

But,because for some reason you’re not happy with what you got, you begin to ruin that cake:

You pour fish sauce (for those of you that don’t know what it smells like , well… is like a mix between rotten fish and one month unwashed dirty reeking socks) and salt on that lovely layered cake and on top of that, you bring in the cat and allow it to urinate and take a massive spraying dump on that cake (modding, magisk modules, fancy fonts etc.etc).

Guess what ? Of course your experience is gonna suck!

Dev

Well, now you have it… Now you have a basic understanding of what Magisk modules are, what they do and why most of the developers are not happy when users are using them and end up ruining their work .

We would politely like to remind people that by doing that they are not helping the situation at all. And of course they will be on their own.
