Why do I have to format data bruh 😀?

Why do we have to format data ?

Most of the people are not that keen on formatting data. They often go to incredible lengths to keep their data. So they chose to dirty flash instead.

Now, dirty flashing when upgrading from a older version to a newer version of the SAME ROM… There are not so many cons… Most of the times you can get away with it…
However, when coming from A DIFFERENT ROM , that’s another story… Formatting your data is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED .

And here is the reason why:

If you do not format your data, what happens is, that all those data files that were generated by every app present on the previous system you had installed on your phone , will persist through the upgrade process.

Meaning, ALL THAT OLD data files (including those menu, configuration files etc, etc) generated by core system apps, like the phone dialer, the Android UI, its option menus and core features WILL STILL BE THERE after you flashed that shiny new ROM …

Long story short, you do that dirty flash and on the next boot, stuff starts misbehaving…

Some people, in a misguided and naive attempt to fix the problem they themselves have caused in the first place, begin flashing different modes and custom kernels on top of that malfunctioning operating system, without having even a modicum of understanding of what actually happens when you do that, which of course, will only serve to make matters even worse…

They usually show up in our group chat looking to blame ArrowOS and anyone else instead of their own inability to follow instructions, focus, read and Google.😀

So please, don’t be one of those guys and DO format your data when you are instructed to do so.
